In December 2025, the Sodha Foundation donated a GE Healthcare Voluson Expert Ultrasound scanner to the Rainbow Clinic at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. This donation was supported by Anand and Amy Sodha, following their experiences both with early stage miscarriage and birth, in recognition of the outstanding support and care offered by the teams at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Anand and Amy also ran the Birmingham Half Marathon in May 2025 in support of the charity and plan to continue supporting its work in the future.

At Birmingham Women’s Hospital, the Rainbow Clinic was created to support parents who are pregnant again after experiencing a stillbirth, neonatal loss or late miscarriage. It offers a safe, specialist space where families can receive closer monitoring, reassurance and compassionate care throughout their pregnancy journey.

The Rainbow Clinic provides personalised support from a dedicated team, including a specialist midwife, consultant obstetrician and experienced sonographer. Families receive early scans, continuity of care and regular reviews of the baby’s growth and placenta health. This consistent, specialist approach ensures that parents feel heard, supported and monitored closely at every stage.

For families who have previously faced loss, this level of care can reduce anxiety and make a meaningful difference to their wellbeing. But like many maternity services, the clinic faces high demand, heavy equipment usage and limited capacity for the high-quality imaging that is so essential to its work.

The Sodha Foundation believes that investing in local maternity care is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen families and the wider community. Supporting the Rainbow Clinic aligns with our mission to provide targeted, practical help where it matters most to improve lives in the local community.

‘The Rainbow Clinic is a dedicated space for families navigating pregnancy after stillbirth. We offer specialist, consultant-led care that centres not only on medical safety but on rebuilding trust, confidence and hope. Every family’s  story matters, and we take time to understand their history, their fears and their priorities alongside their clinical risk. Our support can begin at the very start of their journey, even before they conceive.  It’s a privilege to walk alongside families as they move from fear to trusting in our research and expertise, and the donation of this brand new scan machine from the Sodha Foundation adds enormous value to the care we can deliver for all the families we meet.’ Dr Samiramis Sabis – Consultant Obstetrician @ The Rainbow Clinic.

A new scanner represents reassurance, safety and increased hope. It helps ensure that every pregnancy after loss is supported with the dignity, care and compassion every family deserves regardless of their income.

“We are so honoured to play a part in helping the Rainbow Clinic continue its exceptional work, and we remain committed to supporting services that bring comfort, healing and possibility to our community.” Anand Sodha.
